PEPNet in Communities and Systems


NYEC concentrates on using the PEPNet standards while working within Communities and Systems. In the Communities and Systems approach, NYEC guides multiple programs, or programs operating in multiple areas, through a Continuous Improvement Process. The first step is the by concentrating on regions and system we build communities of funders and providers that have a comprehensive understanding of the PEPNet quality standards. Participants get to know the PEPNet standards as NYEC guides them through the Continuous Improvement. The process begins with the PEPNet Quality Self Assessment, which involves stakeholders assessing an organization's strengths and challenges Process. The Assessment results are used to develop and implement an action plan for strengthening areas identified as needing improvement and then celebrating those successes once the action plan has been fully implemented and all targeted goals have been met.

Communities that have participated:

  • 2006 San Francisco Department of Children, Youth & Their Families (SF DCYF) twenty-four participating organizations.
  • 2008-2009 San Diego Workforce Board, eight participating organizations.
  • 2009-2010 Philadelphia Youth Network, five E3 Power Centers participated.
  • 2010 Marriot Foundation, eight locations participated (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC).
  • 2012 DC Cohort involving three funding groups, and six providers (advocacy)
  • 2013-2014 Two Virginia WIB areas
